Automation Systems
Research:
My research interest fall into two areas: Liver Transplantation and Informatics & Laboratory
Automation/Robotics.
We are continuing to study the histopathology factors of allograft rejection in the post transplant liver.
We are also interested in the histologic and clinical features that may be related to the short term and
long term outcome of the patient. We also participate in the NIH primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) URSO/
methotrexate trial.
Our laboratory automation and informatics research centers around the financial performance of the clinical
laboratory. Included in ongoing research are the development and implementation of automation technology
designed to reduce the cost per laboratory test results produced.
We are also investigating methods to use rules based applications to minimize test volume while optimizing
the patient outcome.
