Human DNA Identification Laboratory
The Human DNA Identification Laboratory has provided DNA-based testing since 1991, and has continued to be on the forefront of identify testing, soon being able to offer next-generation sequencing testing for the purposes of ancestry and phenotype analysis. The lab utilizes industry standard methods compliant with CODIS (U.S. Combined DNA Index System) to determine person of origin in various biological samples.
Application of our methodology can be used to resolve identify in the following circumstances:
- Paternity / parentage (This service is provided to Law Enforcement only)
- Patient tissue / body fluid misidentification
- Physical evidence for law enforcement agencies and private attorneys
Confidential Testing Information given about the parties being tested is strictly confidential and will not be released to anyone without your written authorization.
Laboratory Accreditation The Human DNA Identification Lab is accredited by the ANAB/ISO 17025:2017 for Forensic DNA testing.
Court Admissible Yes, results are valid in court. Proper documentation is maintained on the test specimens to insure that accurate, reliable results are obtained and can be used in the court of law.
Turnaround Time Test results are usually available 2-4 weeks after all samples are received at the laboratory.

TEST SAMPLES
A variety of specimen sources may be submitted for DNA-based identification including, but not limited to:
- Body fluids (e.g. blood, semen, saliva, etc.)
- Buccal swabs (inside cheek swab)
- Cell line verification
- Formalin fixed tissues, FFPE blocks, microscopy slides (stained or unstained)
- Hair roots
- Personal effects
- Tissues (biopsies) or bone
- Touch DNA (items that have been worn or handled by an individual)
PATHOLOGY MATERIALS TESTING
Our testing may be used to resolve concerns regarding mislabeled pathology samples (e.g. tissue, body fluids), tissue ‘floaters’, or concerns about specimen mix-ups. We are able to provide identify on fresh, as well as methanol fixed, and formalin fixed tissues. We are also able to utilize formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissues, unstained slides, and stained slides; tissue on slides are consumed during the extraction process.
RESEARCH SERVICES
Our laboratory provides testing to verify tissue culture cell line identity for basic science researchers.
